THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT!

( A tribute to Donald Trump )

  1. Thank you for letting us know how an inefficient leadership that fails to be serious about a looming pandemic and creates a culture that belittles scientific warnings and ridicules preventive measures, will cause more than a quarter million dead, millions effected and hundreds of thousands hospitalized in the country.

(The irony is, even small countries who are backwards in technology, medicine and, economically depressed, have been able to control the pandemic effectively by good planning and self-discipline.)

  1. Thank you for letting us know that a leader, in order to stay in power, indulges in vote-bank politics and caters to the mindset of a section of the population disregarding what is good for the country, will polarize and divide the country to its great detriment.

(During Trump’s presidency, the term ‘POLITICAL BASE’ became very common. His political base was estimated to be about 40% of the population which he consistently tried to please to be assured of their support in election. He did that regardless of the detrimental consequences for the country.)

  1. Thank you for making us realize that when a leader flashes signals of racism and fascism during his speeches and in rallies, the dormant and weakened elements of racial supremacy in the country, become so alive and powerful that a white police officer does not hesitate to suffocate a black person to death, in broad daylight in front of helpless onlookers.

(George Floyd, a 46 year old black man died after being handcuffed and pinned to the ground by a white police officer’s knee in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020. The encounter, captured on video, incited large protests against police brutality and systemic racism in more than 150 American cities.)

  1. Thank you for letting us know that how a rubber-stamp government under an inexperienced and impulsive president can make the world less safe by sabotaging sensible agreements so laboriously reached at, for example one to contain Iran on the way to become a Nuclear Power.

(Trump unilaterally withdrew the US from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the “Iran Nuclear Deal”, in Ma2018. The Iran deal was one of the crowning diplomatic achievements of former President Barak Obama finalized and approved by participant countries in 2015.)

  1. Thank you for letting us realize the importance of climate change and making us more committed to keeping the planet earth habitable for our kids, as we watched your foolishly persistent rejection of scientific facts pointing to destructive global warming and your shocking withdrawal from the ‘Climate Change Paris Agreement’ to the dismay of the world community.

(The U.S. withdrew from the Paris Agreement made on 12th December 2015 and enforced on 4th November 2016 – a legally binding international treaty on climate change adopted by 196 countries who committed to the goal to limit global warming to well below 1.5, preferably 2 degrees celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. The Paris Agreement is a landmark in the multilateral climate change process because, for the first time a binding agreement brought all nations into a common cause.)

  1. Thank you for letting us go through your repeated lies which were a travesty of the office of the President; Each lie of yours revealed to us the truth it masked; which perhaps we would not have grasped otherwise.

(Donald Trump has made 20,000 false or misleading claims while in office, according to the Washington Post, which identified a “tsunami of untruths” emanating from the Oval Office. The paper’s Fact Checker column said Trump hit the milestone on 9 July, a day on which he delivered 62 such false claims.)

  1. Thank you for your affiliation with white supremacists in the country which unfortunately constituted your base, because it enhanced our commitment to racial justice, equality, dignity of human beings irrespective of the skin color – the principles enshrined in our constitution.

Trump has dismissed white nationalists as, quote, “a small group of people.” He has retweeted white nationalists. And a lot of the words, the fiery rhetoric he uses to describe immigrants and Muslims, are those of the far right groups. And authorities have concluded that right-wing violence is the deadliest, the most active form of domestic extremism.

  1. Thank you for being a sore loser, falsely blaming your defeat to electoral fraud. You lied through your teeth while wasting public money that you raised to fight vain legal battles in the courts. It had an opposite effect as it enhanced our faith in our transparent and honest election where every vote was counted in spite of your tantrum to discard them. As a bonus realization for us, it also enhanced our faith in our judiciary which rejected your childish and unfounded complaints.

Two months after the Nov. 3 election and as states have already cerified their votes, Trump is clinging to false notions of voter fraud. But others in his administration have already said the election was secure. Attorney General William Barr said the Justice Department had seen no evidence of widespread fraud to overturn Biden’s margin of victory.
